The rule is that they sue you where you live now, or where you got the credit. They may have tried to serve you at work, but you need to check the courthouse where you live. Very difficult to prevent a summons from being served. In some states, they can give it to anyone at your address, or tape it to the front door where you live. I don't know what Illinois law allows. The best thing you can do is find out if you are being sued, and if so, answer the law suit. Is this debt (if you know what it is) within the SOL?
Read this info. on how to answer a law suit out of SOL. You will find info on how to answer if the law suit is within SOL also. Read it all, and if you still have questions, you can e-mail Y-chat. Make sure you click where it says "INSTRUCTIONS GUIDE".
