The last payment on the account was either July or August of 2003. I did a $25 payment over the phone because they convinced me they were going to help me file for a hardship program if I did. I was told to call back the next day to set everything up. When I called the next day they acted like I was off my rocker and that I had dreamed up the whole phone call. I'm in TN. I was told by Chase yesterday that it had been sold to Titan Recovery at 1-800-618-0049 then I recieved a message from ca w/ 1-800-856-1174 as the number to call. The balance they are saying is almost $6,000, of which for the biggest portion is finance charges, late fees, and of course they put it over the limit, so over the limit fees. Chase had orignally given me the 9.9% and as soon as that was up they found the first chnce to screw me over and did so, they jacked it up to 24.24%. I no longer had a job and was trying my best, I sent them around $100 a month, sometimes a little more sometimes a little less, for around six months and my balance remained the same due to the huge charges. One month it actually went up a penny after I sent them $125 and I wasn't making any charges to the account. It finally came to the point I was broke and saw no way out of this, I pleaded w/ them to put me on some kind of payment plan I could afford and close the account and they refused to help except to tell me that it would be better on my part to go ahead and let it be sent to collections and then I might recieve help, so the kind lady on the phone went ahead and screwed me again and sent it to collections even though it wasn't even considered delinquent at this point. So here I am. Thank you all so much for helping me w/ this. I think it's very kind of you all to take the time to help so many :)
