Maybe you paid late in May and again in June? CRs are not always correct anyway. I WOULD DEFINITELY LAW LOW FOR RIGHT NOW. You need to call the courthouse in Texas to see if they have filed suit against you. You may have been served in Texas without your knowledge (this is called sewer service) and for these low life CAs who buy debts for pennies on the dollar, it is classic. Whether or not they will sue (or have sued in Texas) depends on if they think they can collect. GET YOUR MONEY OUT OF THAT TEXAS ACCOUNT. Open a new account someplace else with someone else as primary (if possible).If they get a judgement, they can also garnish your wages in N.C. (couldn't do it in Texas). But if they get a judgement in Texas, they are required to legally move that judgement to N.C. in order to execute (OK, I don't know the legal terms for this, but that's the jest of it). Personally, I woldn't rish waking up one morning to find that my bank account is frozen. I would be getting my money out of that TEXAS account ASAP. Better safe than sorry. Hopefully they don't have any info on your current employment. Lay low and give it some time. YES, the SOL is real, but it will not necessarily keep a scum collector from suing. If they do sue, and it is SOL, then you must answer the law suit as SOL being your affirmative defense. These scum CAs buy accounts for pennies on the dollar and have little or no info to back up their claim. So, they can't validate, and if they sue, and you defend you they will likely disappear. Just my 2 cents. www.naca.net. Good place to find an attorney if you find that you have been sued, or you are sued.
