In the interim, send all of your creditors a certified return receipt letter stating that you do not wish them to contact you over the phone and that any contact is to be done in writing.

Also, document any and all communication from your creditors. Even the hang-ups (if you know it's them for sure). If they continue this AFTER you have proof that they have recieved the certified letter, then they are in violation of YOUR rights. Yes, you have rights too as a debtor. I was suprised to find this out when I had the idiots call me non-stop.

Once I sent them a certified return reciept letter all verbal communication stopped with the exception of one creditor, who continued to call. I very politely told them I sent a certified letter on such and such date requesting that I not be contacted over the phone and they need to respect my rights or I will report them. I then hung up.

This does not stop the threats, but atleast they can't continue to call you and throw you off-guard.
