Here is the applicable NY statute.

It means if you DEFAULTED in Fl. and THEN moved to NY, your SOL is still the 4 year Fl. SOL.

I have a VERY GOOD NY Atty. listed at the bottom of my NY page on my website, PLEASE CONFIRM this opinion of mine with him, or any other lawyer who is a CONSUMER lawyer.

NY CPLR, Article 2
S 201. Application of article. An action, including one brought in the name or for the benefit of the state, must be commenced within the time specified in this article unless a different time is prescribed by law or a shorter time is prescribed by written agreement. No court shall extend the time limited by law for the commencement of an action.

S 202. Cause of action accruing without the state. An action based upon a cause of action accruing without the state cannot be commenced after the expiration of the time limited by the laws of either the state or the place without the state where the cause of action accrued, except that where the cause of action accrued in favor of a resident of the state the time limited by the laws of the state shall apply.
