If you are beyond SOL on your debts, after opting out, (both of you) you should dispute any entries on your report. Any that are verified you should send the SOL letter to. ( from my website)

You should NOT pay a ¢ to any CA, yor Dad is correct, a paid collection is WORSE than an upaid one, as it is cemented to your reports.

Have your fiance read the material on my website in the "Repo-deficiency" letter, he MAY be able to find he was not properly notified and has no legal deficiency.
