dont know about other states...my son in law had this happen. to remove his..he had to file fraud charges and theft of service on his mom. he wouldnt..and he still cant get utilities in his name..they are in my daughters maiden name. sooooo...call and ask the company, but it may entail filing charges. he also was in a diff state...and he needed proof his residence..bills coming there..another light bill..etc..something showing his address at the time. good luck..its a long road. all one needs is a SSN and they can put lights in anyones name. bad system. prove where you lived at the time..and be ready to file charges.
