Mistaken Identity and Collection Agency Harrassment

I have been receiving numerous calls from a collection agency for a person, unknown to me that shares my somewhat unusual last name. These calls are sometimes 3-4 times a day left on my answering machine. I finally got fed up with all the calls and called the toll free number they left. I explained that they had the wrong number and I would like the calls stopped. They promised to do so, but the calls began again in a couple of weeks. I called again, rather upset and explained that I thought that they had taken my number off their lists. I was asked why I hadn't returned any of the calls, I replied that I didn't feel I should return calls, not meant for me and that I would like the calls to stop or I was contacting the Attorney General in my state with a complaint. The person on the line got somewhat abusive and hung up. No further calls. Now over a year later, the same agency is calling. How can I get this to stop? I feel I am being harrassed for sharing a last name with someone I don't even know!!
Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks!
