I just past my SOL with Asset (yea!) I had good luck listening to folks here and just laying low for the 2 years i've been there customer. There letters all appeared very generic, like mass mailings. Sometimes I accidentally picked up the phone and it was them, but they were usually pretty polite (I know I might be alone in this experience). Ive also heard from alot of folks here that they rarely have any documentation, so most folks are safe.

Business accounts I think are different in some ways from consumer debt, but the things i've learned here about dealing with AA are basically:

- Lay Low.
- Opt Out.
- Stay calm.
- Listen to people here they will help you.
- Delete old address from all credit reports.
- Dont talk to them on the phone or respond to there letters, unless it is a REAL summons.
- Never admit anything. Never give them any information whether it is in your favor or not.
-Dont tell them anything about your life, job, etc.
- Keep everything they send you.
- Keep old credit reports. If you dont have any right now I would get a set, so you can prove it if they try and re-age the debt.
- Dont believe anything they say- They lie and try and get you to freek out.
- Never do anything when you are emotional.
- I think they tend to work harder on people that they know or think care. Anything you do that makes them think you care is not to your benefit.
- Close any old bank accounts you paid this account with and still have open and open new accounts with someone else as primary.

Remember the worst they can do is take you to court. If they do that, they have to prove it is your debt (signed contract), the amount is correct (complete account history, from open til now with all charges/payments etc), that it is within SOL (again account history), and that they have the right to collect it from you (bill of sale from oc).

If they cant prove all of the above they are outta luck most likely.

I dont know it all, so I hope if something above is not correct someone will let us both know.

Good Luck.

Timothy
