Put up or shut up does not always work. I am being sued and it is serious business. Have a lawyer, and am not happy with his attitude (I will no longer tolerate his insulting remarks). I listened but with the information I have read on this site - now I will bite back.

I owe the money and don't deny it - but want help to deal with it. What I am spending on a lawyer could have gone to payments and paying off.

I contracted with a company called DEBTXS, and the first mistake they made was sending a C&D letter. That as they say here -- was a red flag to the lawyer and he filed on behalf of the credit card company. DEBTXS instructed me NOT to speak to the creditors by phone or to respond to their letters. I faxed all letters and sent email or called them when I was contacted by phone.

I have spent close to $3000.00 on this service that has not worked for me.

I will NOT win this, and never expected to. All I want is to protect what we have, and since we live in Texas that is possible.

This is a first for us, and we are in our 60s.

I am not through yet... and if necessary will bring DEBTXS into the picture. What we spent on their service I could have one of the cards paid off (there are two)!

I sent the lawyer a fax today telling him to start settlement procedures (and we are just now in discovery) and to send a letter to the court and the bank stating that our salaries are direct deposit and that according to Texas law - wage garnishment is a no-no. I have not heard back from the lawyer yet.
