Cap One charged off & interest

Had a Capital One card which shows on credit report as charged off. Date of last activity was 6/01. I noticed the balance due keeps going up each year I pull the credit report. Will it keep going up forever? I thought it stopped after it was charged off. Thanks for any help. You guys on this site have been a wonderful source of info!
