If everyone that received one of those checks sealed the envelope back up and wrote refused on it, then stuck it in a mailbox at the post office or in front of a business, the sender would be responsible to pay the postage for those returned mail items. I also do that with unsolicitated credit card offers. If enough people did this, it would become too costly for those preditory companies to continue the practice.
