You came to this forum looking for answers, you disagree with the answers you received. I am going to state AGAIN what I think you should do, and why.

You filed an answer, (and presumably a notice of appearance). Sherman sent you an "offer to settle"- the REASON they want to settle is that they HAVE NO CASE THAT WILL HOLD UP IN COURT.

If you go to the hearing, and demand complete proof of the account, with proof of dates and copies of a signed application and CLAIM SOL( I know-I know- you say you are within SOL, but I think NOT, otherwise Sherman wouldn't have the account), and IF, at THAT time, they are able to produce ALL the required proof of their claim, AND proof that your last payment on an ACTIVE account was within the SOL time limits, then, and ONLY THEN should you make a "settlement" with them, and ONLY for the full LEGAL amount that is being claimed.

That is the only way you have a chance to get both their and the OC off your reports completely.
