i would get the settelment agreemnet in writing,they can send you a letter saying they agreed to accept 1,000 in full before you make they payment,the letter will say "upon paymnet" i see no problem doing a ck over the phone,but alot of people from the board do,so tell them you are sending a money order,they may accept that...also they can let the credit comp know the account is setteled if they own the debt....if not they let the creditor know and they advise the crdit comp's
