Everybody has their opion about validation. I'm just saying in my case I have gotten sued by a Collection Attorney because I just ignored their dunning letter. The same Collection Attorney I ignored the first time and got sued, tried to collect on Discover and instead of sitting around waiting to be sued, I sent a Validation Request and haven't heard from them again regarding the Discovery account. This has been 2 and half years ago. Now, the account has been passed off to Weltman, Weingard and Reis Attorney's for collection in Cincinnati, OH. Do you think I'm just going to sit around a wait for them to make the next move? They will of course try to sue because it's only 5 months from the SOL. I sent a Validation request to them and I'm still waiting to see what happens. Why do you think Collection Attorneys gets the account vice Collection Agencies? So they can litigate against you! Do you honestly think that Wolpoff & Abramson and Mann Bracken were not going to send me off to Arbitration when I got their dunning letters, stating they were going to take me to Arbitration. I sent them a Validation Request and refusal of Arbitration letter and haven't heard from them for 2 and half years. I'm just saying in my case validation is the only way to go and I will never ever sit around and ignore a dunning letter ever again. When someone states never to ask for validation is a very bold and dangerous thing to do. Why Chat's full of great advice, but I would like to know if he/she has ever actually dealt in real live person with real live debt with the types that have come after me and others.
I speak from real life experiences when I give my post on this forum.
