If you haven't made a payment in the past year, the account has been charged off which means that the original creditor has received a tax credit as a business loss. You need to find out IF the account has been assigned or sold to a collection agency. IF Mann Bracken called, the OC may have assigned the account with them to collect the debt. If the account has been sold to the CA, there is nothing the OC can do for you since they have sold the debt and relinquished their interest in the debt. Since the account was just charged off, you are still within the SOL. What state are you in?

I would strongly urge you NOT to talk to the CA by phone. If they call you at work send a limited cease and desist letter telling them you can not take personal phone calls at work and to contact you by US mail ONLY. Send it CRRR. Keep the green card for future references.
