I've tried everything on this old out of sol debt that Asset tried to almost double. I've requested validation (not really done by what I understand from ftc letters), disputed with CRA's (verified every time until the CRA's refuse to dispute it anymore), made complaints to FTC, ACA, BBB, and SAG (all came back with the same thing: They are a debt buyer we can't do anything at all, but seek a lawyer.) And I just got a letter from the state licensing agency saying they were a debt buyer so were excluded from the definition of debt collector and not subject to licensing or proscution by the department but may still be subject to the FDCPA....

I'm tired, and this thing is STILL on my report. Over $200 in "interest" has been added on a debt thats been out of SOL for over a year now. I'm thinking of offering them a $100 settlement for deletion (thats less than 1/4 of what they claim to want).

Validation was attempted, but no signed contract, no proof of transactions to show how they got to their figure, just a printout from their computer with conflicting information from their original letter, and 2 final bills from the OC - which doesn't match the creditor named on the "printout they sent. It doesn't appear to be reaged but I'm going to check that when I get pdated reports this week. They caused me TU file to split a few months back when they reported the account with my name but an address in a state I have never even seen and then added the notation "now located consumer" "indispute, solution pending"

I have heard NOTHING from them since I started my complaint process (ha ha since the infamous "christmas present letters they were sending out in october" cause in their mind they DID validate properly) but they still stick on my credit report. What do I do now????? Pay and hope they honor a deal to delete or what? I have copies of reports from privacy gaurd that show everything I've disputed, and documented all the times I requested validation and made complaints... and kept responses to everything. The file is about 2 inches think... Its overwhelming to think I should go through it all and take them to court... Or should I wait it out? wait for them to take me to court so I can slam them with an sol defense? or if I'm lucky hope they drop off in 2 years?
