i know JPS in ft worth is a county hosp..supposedly for poor people. but they have a new CEO, and we were denied care. i called clear to the top of the chain..they have several walk- in clinics and we were told to bring at least 200 cash to be seen or we would be denied. all could be done was a ER, a wait of at least 18 hours (or more--done that too) and then no one could afford the meds. another wait of 8 hours for them and they stil made you pay. (now you know one reason i have COs--paying for my kids meds) this was a county hosp,.,,shrug..and we were stil denied. i think i went to everyone i could think..united way to red cross finally, catholic charities..txu has some program where they help pay light bills cause of the heat here.lol sure..we were denied at every stop and so was anyone else we saw there. i dont know the answer..it seems stupid to me to overload ERs with this type of crap, use their resources, and deny care until one is dying. the cost then skyrockets with surgery and icu's. but i will say,, again i was appalled. i had not thought a baby could be denied health care..in this country..and i was woke up rudely. i basically cried..and understood why people will riot and go postal from frustration. many more than just us were turned away..i saw it with my own eyes..and told no. no food..no help with rent..no help with electric..to basically live in your car--we dont care. and it is appalling. pregnant girls turned down for help..watching them cry and ask what am i gonna do? it broke my heart and made me angry as hell. this system is in bad trouble and someone needs to wake up to it. all we can do is wait until its life threatening and head to a ER. hugss beth* this last ultrasound, she was told pay it or leave. i just dont know. i told em when someone dies from this..i hope they got sued to the ends of the earth. it is completely scary, beth. completely. i know this is somewhat off topic..but we r partly in this credit mess because i wont let my kids or grandkids go without food and medicine.
