First, I am not an attorney and this is not legal advice, but what I would do if it were me.

The CA calls themself an assignee and sues, or can act as an agent of the OC. They can do it, but it doesn't seem like they should be able to do it. You can always use their status to bring suit is unclear and has not been substantiated by by the plaintiff as a defense. They have not produced copies of a bill of sale or a contract signed by the OC that expressly gives them the right to act as the OC's agent in reguards to this debt. And I wouldn't admit to anything except you are a resident of your county. They brought the case into court, so it is up to them to prove their case. Also, I would show up to court or they will win by default. Make them earn anything they get and make them prove the debt is yours. Good luck!
