Same reason people seem to enjoy watching reality TV shows of families fighting each other for 30 minutes at a time.

Boredom.

I think most of the current troll base is not actual collectors but just the people who have found fertile ground and are playing with it. Some of them sound like they have finance background but it could be the trolls from Turkey who seem to be in college or teaching this sort of thing.
