It is a violatoin of the FDCPA to threaten to sue you when they have no intention of doing so and believe me they have NO intention of suing you for $1500!

Get the name, date and time if anyone threatens to sue. If you want to settle this you can probably wait for a few months - they'll be a little more reasonable as time goes by. Put money in the bank on a regular basis and if you want to settle, call them back in the future and offer a full payment settlement. They probably take $500.00. You can also not pay it, let it stay on your credit report and plan to build your credit back up in the next two years.
