Not answering their collection letters is a mistake. Send them a letter, certified, return receipt, telling them you want proof that the debt is really yours. Don't talk to them on the phone, and keep your head down, but you need to exercise your rights under the law. It slows them down and often they will go away, just because they realize you know what to do.

Having no assets helps, LOL, but they can still get a judgment against you, garnish pay, freeze bank accounts, ect.

Send validation letter, wait for their response. Keep your receipt where they sign for it.

If they don't respond, you are probably in good shape.
