Yes, the sheriff came to my employment and served me papers. That is when I called the lawyers whose hands it went into and arranged monthly payments with them but was unaware of this interest at this time. The papers stated the address of the court,the date and the time. I just dont see how I will ever pay this off. I dont think its wise for me to claim bankruptcy with my husband as my credit is in pretty good shape aside of this judgement..I know a judgement can really run a persons report down quickly. How long will it stay on my report? The lawyers did say they will take a lump sum payoff and forgive the interest if I pay them at least 3/4 of the principal balance. If I had money laying around I wouldn't be in judgement!! Have you ever known or can they actually charge me interest on the payments I kept current and already paid perviously to the hopsital and to the collections department that wasn't in default. I was also told by a very loose-tongued representative for the hospital in "collections" that they don't actually have a collections department that it is actually an in-house collections and the bills are sent to a differnt address such as they used a p.o box and all accounts end up in the same billing department and they put the return address as a "made up" collections dept name- different than the hopsital to make account holders believe their bill is in "collections" when it actually is not. She said they use this as a scare tactic to get people to pay. This just shows anybody will do anything to get their money. Thanks for reading!!
