I have been researching anonymous credit cards for use on the internet and this site popped up from Google. (After looking at the titles, I now understand why) Here is what I've found so far: There appear to be a number of "offshore" companies/banks who will issue them (at a fee of $500 and up), but almost nothing from US banks. Many of the banks will offer a debit card w/o any ID, but for a credit card, they typically want a photocopy of a passport. Presumably, altering this photocopy digitally on a computer to change the name, etc. would be illegal?

Two years ago AMEX offered a prepaid "gift card" through 7-11 stores, but that seems to have disappeared. Another approach is a "smart card" that has funds basically stored within it; these are used on some college campuses, but I don't know if they act/look like conventional Visa/Mastercard cards or not.

Might anyone have any leads they could give me?
