OK...I get this letter in the mail today saying I owe almost $2300. I call Gulf State and they say it's from a delinquint Sprint account that was closed in 97. So, if it was from Sprint, I would have gotten letters from them trying to collect, right? So, I call Sprint and talked with at least 10 different people. They were all very nice and helpful, but no one was able to verify that anything had been sent to a debt collector. Furthermore, one of the Sprint operators suggested I call the Credit Bureau and ask them about it. Lo and behold, there is absolutely nothing on my credat report from Sprint or Gulf State. How could that be if the account was over 5 years delinquint? Does anyone have any advice and/or suggestions about what to do next. The rude lady at Gulf State said they would send me a letter proving that I owed the money, and if they couldn't prove it, it would be deleted. But, after reading so many bad things about them, I'm not holding my breath.
Thank you in advance,
Sammi
