SOL WHAT STATE DO I GO BY???????

I have a charge off, with the date of last activiy list as 10/1997. It was a loan that I had taken out when I lived in VA. I now live in FL, and sol for each state is different. VA if 6 years, and FL is 5 years. I am planning to apply for a mortgage in the state of FL, which one do I go by.
