If you want to tough it out with a judgment, and all you owe is $16,000. then it would make sense IF you know how to protect yourself and your family from any problems for the 14 years a judgment is enforcable in N.M.,make sure your bank KNOWS in writing that ALL of your funds are exempt from seizure, if you invest in anything, do it through an insurance company, not a local bank, insurance company annuities are the safest in your situation. Make sure you check them out for their Best rating first. If your home needs to be sold, for whatever reason, you would have to pay off the judgment,if you want to trade cars 4-5-6 years from now, your interest rate will be higher. If you decide to start a business, or do anything that involves credit, that judgment will be sitting there.By the way, when exactly DID you first become delinquent (30 days late) on the account or accounts?
