Tread a bit carefully here. You have no liability if your name isn't on the cards. But, they may well have a claim on your deceased wife's estate. I doubt anyone wants 1980's autos but, if the house was owned jointly, and there is some equity in it they may well be able to make a claim. I'd suggest you see a lawyer if the house or any other asset was joint.

If not joint, go after them. Send a very sternly worded demand letter telling them you are not responsible. Tell them they are violating the FDCPA by attempting to colect from someone who is not liable for the debt. Tell them they have 30 days to furnish you with proof of any obligation or, you'll sue if they continue to attempt to collect. Send it CRRR but don't sign the letter. Just type your name.

Also, write a similar letter to the cc company and tell them per the FDCPA they are liable for the actions of there agents. Again, send it CRRR. Finally, write to your AG and, the FTC. Call it was it is-extortion.
