I am attempting to settle a judement of $6,000 that is filled in a small claims court in Indpls IN. filled May of 1997, I have since moved to Austin Tx. September of 1997, the collector(Metro Resources) is no longer in business including the apartment complex who filled against me. The attorney that handle the cause says he can not accept fees from me or offer settlements from me the (defendant) when the plaintiff's company has folded do to fear of getting sued himself for making settlements for a company that has gone out of business, What shall I do? I am wanting to dispute this claim because I had a verbal understanding from the plaintiff to vacate the premises do to the situation which was beyond my circumstances. I retained a copy of the restraining order and harrassemnt that prompted my early release from the lease contract. How should I go about getting this handled in a timely manner?
