i used to live in Kentucky, and i moved to Pennsylvania in 1999. just a few days ago, i got a letter from a lawyer in kentucky regarding a debt that was charged off in 1995. before it got to the lawyer, this debt was sold to a company called 'legal recoveries, inc.' .they did not appear anywhere on my credit report. the letter did not state who the original creditor was (i had to call the lawyer for that).before this letter, i had no contact about this debt since 1995. i called the lawyer and they claim they had this account since 2000. why they did not contact me, who knows. and i wonder how they got my PA address (i assume legal recoveries, inc. pulled up my credit report). this debt is more than 7 years old and i am sure the SOL in PA has run out..so what should i do? the last thing i want to do is give them money, as this would reset the SOL and the 7-year clock.
