Thanks for this great forum, guys. My American Express account has been passed around to a few collectors and is now with Zwicker and Associates. I called the lady and told her I'd be sending in a payment. She said they are already going to sue me and that I should be receiving the summons within 30 days and that they won't accept any payment and that I need to make that payment to the courts instead. The date on the letter (first and only one I got from them) is May 6 and it says I have 30 days to contact them to discuss payments. Is she trying to scare me? SHE hung up on ME. I don't want to call her back. Do you think they'll still accept payments from me? How long does it take to get a summons anyway (process)?
