I am looking for an apartment, and I want to clean my credit report in order to get a good lease. What should I do to get rid of my negative items—such 3 collections from credit cards balances from fall 1999—How do I dispute those items? And, what could I do to delete a repossession item—recently settled-- from my report? I live in Illinois. Thank you.
