I have a Capital One card with a small credit line that they issued to me a couple of years ago. Recently they purchased a large charged off old account from 1991 and sent me a letter requesting payment. I know this debt is past the SOL but I want to make sure I respond in the right way. Also, I am thinking maybe I should also close out my existing Capital One account as they seem to be using it as a gateway for contact. I would appreciate input.
