Capital One question** I'm a lil worried-should i be

I received a threatening phone call today from a CA that says Capital One purchased an old credit card debt of mine that is 7 yrs old this month. They are threatening to sue me and send the lawyers after me if I do not pay them for the old debt. Is there really anything they can do? I live in Texas. If they do summons me what can I do?
