Don't ever call or talk to a collection agency on the phone. That's one of the worst mistakes you can make. You need to have a tape recorder on your phone line for when they call you. And when they call you, simply collect all of the information you can from them. Who they are, name of the person calling, time of day and date. Let them do the talking and don't give them any meaningful answers at all.
Next step is to send them a letter demanding a full accounting of the debt and any and all charges made against you. Do that by certified mail, return receipt requtested letter. Never make any promise to pay, either verbally or in writing. Let them make all the mistakes.

That's what I do, is to teach people how to win at the collections game and how to remove adverse reports from their credit bureau reports.

: So I've just been notified that one of my accounts has been turned over to a collection agency. I didn't make a payment or anything yet. I was told to call back in a week with what I can do. What should I say whaen I call back? I've been doing a lot of research online and I know the basics of the FDCA. What should I say though. I'm pretty sure that that SOL is not up on this particular debt.
