First I would like to say that I have read some old postings regarding the collection agency that I'm going to talk about and have started taking action.
I got a call last night for my husband from Whitewing Financial regarding a very old, very closed account with Montgomery Ward. They said that they had difficulty locating him because he was in the military.
I'm thinking Hellooo we've lived in the area for over 10 years, try harder next time. I'm currently trying to contact an attorney to handle this for me because I have learned that they can be difficult (being nice for the censors). The account was closed more than 20 years ago to all knowledge satisfactorily and I'm thinking that if Gulf oil company (in the same state of affairs as MW) is being reported on the credit report but MW isn't all should be fine. I do know that the SOL has long expired and have already prepared a cease & desist letter to send to them. I only need the MW account number and amount of supposed debt to add to the forms. Any other advise on this would be greatly appreciated. My husband wanted to seem to be subservient to them but I chose the bulldog route, play hardball with hardball. I say don't give them any more reason to continue contacting us, be straight-forward and don't cow to their methods. Who agrees with whom? Again, we appreciate any and all advise.
