How to cash big checks if you close your checking?

I have not problem using cash only. I primarily use my checking account for small bills. But I'm wondering if I eventually do get a judgment and fear using my checking account, how would I get a large check ($5k or more) cashed? Or even, say, I sold my house and had much more than that. This bugs me because It's really my only problem here in Texas. I don't know anyone else who could be my primary in my checking account. =)
