I think everyone will agree with WhyChat, this is not a "straight forward" situation. If anything this is the most convoluted group of judgements ever posted on this forum.

If you got your credit report in 2002 didnt it show the 1998 judgement?.

It's just confusing as to what you did or didn't know as you mention you don't know how they got this or that but you did receive letters with court dates. You did appear before a judge but lost, did you appeal?. If you knew enough as it seems you did you really should have been able to convince the judge that you don't have the burden of proof, the collector does. You mention they never validated, but that should mean that you requested validation before judgement, you cant request validation after judgement (someone correct me if I am wrong).

Either you are not telling us all the details or something is very bizarre about your situation that makes it hard to believe it ALL happened to you as posted. Sorry, just cant sit here and make sense of all of this.
