Fraud and Indentity theft :long sorry

In Sept of 98 Ameritech called us to inquire if we were seeking
to get a new telephne installed at a new address. We weren't
and quickly discovered that my husbands indentity had been
stolen. They had his Soc, Driver Li employer name and address.
We immediately inquired of all of our credit cards , banks and
the credit reporting agencies to stop further use of his
identity. I sent letters to all three adn asked that holds be
placed on our accounts this ws supposed to prevent a person from
getting credit simply by calling in they would have to verifiy
with us at our home.
Almost one year to the date I get a call from
Ameritech "cellular" ( they are not the same) they claimed
that we have 5 cellular accounts set up at an address in this
City that total several thousand including the telephones. We
filed a loss affidavit and began once again the process of
checking to see how this person got access to what was supposed
to be blocked. Experian did not have any blocks in place. I
wrote and requested that it be put in place and they agreed to
do so. We also discovered that someone had been successful in
obtaining resdiential service at that address as well . We
contacted Ameritech and they said they would investigate and
remove it since the fraud had been noted before. I recently
pulled my credit report for about the 5 th time trying to clrear
all this stuff and this collection for the residential account
showed up. I called and the people there were rude and abusive
and demanded that I provide dl # soc etc etc to clear the
acount. I explained what Ameritech had told me and they said
Ameritech claims they contacted me and told me that they needed
proof of residency and we never responded which is not true.
Had they requested it we most certainly would have provided it.
In speaking once again with Experian they mentioned that in
order to permanently place a block I would have to provide a
telephone number by sending a copy of the current phone bill.
I was amazed because no one had ever asked that before. I
asked why that was and they were not evn apologetic, the woman
said well if it isn't you account then why do you care. I could
not beleive my ears, Because, I explained it effects my credit
rating, after all the calls I had made they wait until now to
tell me how to make this permanent.

My question is this . What can I do I am being driven crazy by
the credit reporting agencies. I request and clear up my credit
report only to find that another item has appeared and the
process has started all over again. I place blocks and holds
and recent potential creditors tell me ther is nothing noted on
my file The police will not even speak with us about it, it
isn't important enough for them. we are financially on hold
because we can not obtain loans without being penalized for bad
credit that isn't our fault.
