If your state and county laws have a law on board that allows for the state to charge inmates room and board (I believe several states do have this in law), then you are stuck. Also, any fines associated with a crime are not able to be included in bankruptcy and can remain on the credit report indefinetely. I would contact a consumer lawyer for Michigan at www.naca.net and pose the question to them.
