No, leaving the state does not stop the SOL from running. You would have to read the state statutes of that particular state to determine what else might. You can find those at http://www.lawdog.com

You should 1) get copies of your credit reports from all 3 bureaus, and see what is on there. 2) check with the state court in the locality where you were living then to see if there are any judgments outstanding against you. With medcial bills, it is a good possibility.

Once you have that info, you can determine the best course of action to take.
