I am 18 years old and I am in full-time college. My parents pay all my costs including tuition, I pay for some clothes, movies, photo equipment etc... I do have a credit card with my name on the card but my parents pay the account. Problem: Due to the fact I never pay bills, I never will build a good credit rating.I would like to build a good credit so when I graduate and get married I will be able to purchase on credit, get a mortgage etc... Question: Too build credit, should I apply for a credit card in my own name now? I have money in my savings account to pay my balance every month. I don't even intend on spending a lot, just enough to build credit. If I get denied will that look bad on my credit report? How should I know what type of credit card I need? Remember, I intend on paying full balance every month. Is one bank better than another for my situation(e.g.Citibank vs. Capital One etc...)?
Thanks a lot for your help!
