First of all, thanks for responding! My husband has not been on active duty since September, he is back to his reserve status. We live in Texas. I cannot honestly say when our last payment was made to the original creditor without late charges or past due amounts. I know that it has been within this year, but I do not know exactly when. I called the credit card company but the department I need to speak with is only open Monday through Friday, so I will call them Monday morning. Who has the authority to pursue legal action against us? This may be a stupid question, but I do know that people do get summoned to court for credit card debts and have also been made responsible for the opposing party's attorney fees. What makes me so mad is thatI fully accept that we incurred this debt, and I have been making an effort to get the debt paid. Now PDI is playing hardball with us when all I requested is to renegotiate my payments due to a change in our fiancial status, which I can prove. The manager I spoke with said that what they want is judgment against me so that they can get the full $5,800 I still owe. I do not know exactly what that means. He is the same person who threatened me with additonal charges. Thank you for any guidance that you can give me on this matter.
