I'm also dealing with these folks for a First USA dept. Sent validation and C&D just yesterday. I looked them up on the Maryland BBB site and they're rated "unsatisfactory" due to numerous complaints. I have only received 1 letter from them. Be sure to save everything, a paper trail is very important.
