Thanks for responding. Here's more info. Hopefully this will help illicit more responses. Bud Hibbs website advises to use a cease and desist immediately on this collection attorney (Eskanos). However, you say this would increase risk of being sued. Why is that? Give the age of your debt;(last payment to the ORIGINAL creditor) Last payment would be May of this year. Please: Give your State of residence. California I can pay something on this debt, like $100/month, but not the total amount. Also, wouldn't the validation letter give the attorney a critical bit of info, i.e. my current address, which they would need to serve me a summons? Most advice I've seen on debts with attornies advises that you should give them as little info as possible. I guess I just don't want to be forced into bankruptcy because of this one attorney, which would happen if they sued me to garnish wages, etc. Thanks for any advice.
