My husband and I have about $50,000 in debt. Most of it in Credit Card debt but also some in medical bills. The credit cards were charged off Feb of 2003. I found this site too late to follow your suggestions from the beginning and now we are really in a bind. 2 credit cards have been through arbitration and I was served for court on one of those last week. Another one will probably be going that way soon. Another account is on its way to arbitration even though I sent the letter against arbitration and the 4th credit card account and the medical bills I have not heard from anyone on. We are thinking at this point that bk will be the best thing to do now. We are just ready to get this all over with. I know there are many here from Texas that have bk experience so I am just needing an idea of what to expect. Is ch13 the way we should go or can you do ch7 with credit card debt? What is a timeline of the process? Will bk put our allowed spending to the bare basics? Will I be able to spend money on some fun stuff for my kids during the summer? Can anyone suggest a good bk lawyer in the Houston area that will take payments? Or if anyone has an idea on how to deal with this mess without bk that would be great, too.
Thank you!
