I just looked over the entry again and it says OPEN 120+ days Past Due!! in Equifax (Put in by Marlin Integrated Capital)

Open? I moved out of New York in 1995. How can an account be reported open now?

Inovision's entry in TU says Placed for Collection. Placed 11/1999. Updated 01/2002. Past Due: $147.

What do they mean by Placed? Placed in collection or placed in my credit report? There was nothing in my report about this in 1999 or 2000 or 2001.

What are these people trying to pull?

If I were to just pay the debt and they note it as Paid Collection or whatever, is it really bad? I want to fight but have not much time before I need to apply for mortgage. The rest of my credit report is spotless. All reports say "Paid. Never late" in all accounts.

Would my credit union through whom we have car loans and a current mortgage give us a break if this account is paid promptly?
