I have a CA for the dept of ed that has sent me a garnishment notice. In the notice it states that I can make voluntary payments equal to the amount to be garnished. If I make voluntary payments in the amount equal to the garnishment amount (10% of my net disposible income), willthat then prevent them from notifying my employer and enforcing a garnishment?. If I offer to do that can they then require me to pay more? I just work in a very small office where everyone knows everyone's business and I would pay them that amount just so everyone won't know about it.
